ZenZero is a fast-paced, creative marketing and design agency working with an exciting portfolio of brands across multiple industries. We are looking for a enthusiastic, trend-obsessed Junior Social Media Specialist who is eager to take ownership of brand channels, engage with online communities, and help drive digital growth.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Creative Director and design team to plan, write, schedule, and analyze content across various platforms. If you love strategy as much as execution, this is the perfect opportunity to kickstart your social media career in an agency setting.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy & Planning

  • Help draft monthly content calendars for a variety of client brands across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to align social strategy with overarching brand and marketing goals.
  • Brainstorm creative campaign hooks, content angles, and interactive audience features (polls, Q&As, interactive stories).

Content Management & Scheduling

  • Upload, tag, and schedule approved social media content using management tools (e.g., Buffer, Hootsuite, Later, or native schedulers).
  • Ensure all posts go live accurately, on time, and formatted correctly per platform specs.
  • Maintain organized digital asset libraries for client media files and approved copy.

Community Management & Engagement

  • Actively monitor client channels for comments, direct messages, and brand mentions.
  • Engage with audiences in each client’s unique brand voice to build strong online communities.
  • Flag potential customer service issues or high-priority lead inquiries to Account Managers promptly.

Copywriting & Messaging

  • Write clear, punchy, and platform-native captions tailored to distinct target audiences.
  • Research and implement optimized hashtags, keywords, and call-to-actions (CTAs) to boost discoverability.
  • Maintain tone-of-voice guidelines across diverse industries (e.g., corporate LinkedIn vs. trendy TikTok).

Performance Analytics & Reporting

  • Track key performance metrics including reach, engagement rate, follower growth, and website click-throughs.
  • Assist in preparing monthly social media performance reports for clients, highlighting key wins and areas for improvement.
  • Use data insights to refine content tactics for future months.

Trend Spotting & Research

  • Stay continuously updated on algorithm changes, platform feature updates, and viral sound trends.
  • Proactively pitch trending formats and cultural moments that client brands can piggyback on quickly.

Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience managing social media accounts (internships, personal brand management, or entry-level positions welcome).
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills with a sharp eye for grammar and tone.
  • Platform Mastery: Deep familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Analytical Mindset: Basic understanding of social media metrics and how to interpret platform insights.
  • Location: Ability to work full-time on-site in Fourways, Johannesburg.
  • Personality: Highly organized, proactive, eager to learn, and comfortable multi-tasking under tight deadlines.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience using social management tools (Later, Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social).
  • Basic graphic design or video editing skills (Canva, CapCut).
  • Understanding of paid social advertising (Meta Ads Manager basics).
  • Prior digital or creative agency experience.

  5. Reporting Quality: Clear, accurate monthly reporting provided to the leadership team.
